Tennessee not only upsets Iowa State, but they do it while looking very strong. Tennessee absolutely dominated the offensive glass, especially in the first half. Their 10 offensive rebounds were the same as Iowa State’s TOTAL rebounds in the first half. Those boards were the biggest reason that the Volunteers managed to both keep up with the Cyclones and finish the 1st half with a 1-point lead. It is fitting that offensive rebounds defined a very grindy first half. The volunteers continued thriving with that game plan in the 2nd half. Every time Iowa State looked like they would make a dent in their deficit, Tennessee would just grab some boards, pass the ball around and hit a shot to keep their opponent at bay. Okpara was essential to that strategy as he led the way on the glass and made everything for them work. Ament and Gillespie often hit the shots and Carey came off the bench to give the Volunteers a bit of everything. The loss of Jefferson finally caught up to the Cyclones.

A dominant performance on the glass and on defense from the Vols and Rick Barnes has his squad going to the regional final for the third straight year. Can they finally break through to the Final Four for the first time in program history? It’ll be a tall task against the Wolverines but maybe it’s finally their time. Have to feel for Iowa State. Losing an All-American right as the tournament starts was brutal.

Watched with a friend who’s an Iowa state fan and when things started to unravel in the second half, the vibe got pretty awkward. I get it though

Tennessee with a dominant upset over the Cyclones, they move onward! Only 7% picked them for this game, wow!

Iowa state would be so much better if healthy unfortunately. Tennessee looking good, I may have to take back what I said about ament. Elite 8 isn’t cooked anymore.

Besides it being an “upset” this game didn’t provide much as as soon as the 2nd half started Tennessee pulled away and it never seemed close again.

What have I been saying all along. Iowa State either looks like the best team in the country or a 10 seed. This game, they looked like a 10 seed. Had a terrible headache so I went to bed early and missed this one, but I can't exactly say I'm entirely shocked about this result. This Tennessee team just continues to show they are amazing, and Nate Ament is an absolute stud. They'll go on to play Michigan with a Final 4 berth on the line, and I want to say that Michigan will handle them easily, but I thought the same thing about Virginia and Iowa State.

Tennessee had firm control the whole game. ISU was REALLY missing Josh Jefferson and it showed. At the beginning of March I didn’t not think that this Tennessee team would make it this far beating both Virginia AND Iowa State but dang here we are. This elite 8 sure is elite. I love March madness

Started out looking like it was going to be a great game close game going into half and we just couldn’t get it going in the 2nd half we didn’t have Joshua Jefferson again and it showed tough loss we’ll be back next year🫡
