Don’t let the final score fool you, if not for a 11-2 run and a 14-2 run (coincidentally both 3 minute runs), Maryland would’ve won by like 30 points. 12 points in the first half is horrific. Oregon shot 30% from the field and a disgusting 16% from 3. Somehow Maryland wasn’t much better. 40% from the field and 30% from 3. The only saving grace of this game was Oregon making it kind of close down the stretch. Aside from that, these were 2 mediocre teams having bad nights and one team was slightly less bad. Elijah Saunders going 5/6 from 3 may have been the primary reason Maryland didn’t have an all-time choke. For context: those 5 3s are more than all of Oregon and the rest of Maryland (4 each). Watching 3s clank off the rim is not fun, especially when the defenses aren’t dominating in a way that could’ve made this game fun. Only 18 turnovers combined.”
