This was bad for the Mets from the get-go. Before the top of the 1st was finished, Tong gave up 4 hits, 6 runs and threw 40 pitches. Big yikes. Was hoping for a pitching matchup, but the Rangers basically sealed it after the 1st, especially with Degrom doing a quick 1 2 3 inning right after. While Degrom wasn’t magnificent, he did enough. Credit to the Mets for showing some life, but the Rangers smothered it with a couple insurance runs. The AL Central is a bloodbath rn.

Had the misfortune of watching this one from the 7th inning on the treadmill at the hotel gym. There was no sound so when I saw the Mets fans with shoes on their hands in the bottom of the 8th a wave of 2nd hand embarrassment washed over me. DeGrom knows the feeling all too well.
