This game was cinema! It started as a pitchers duel between Skenes and Greene until the Pirates make it 2-0 after a couple of Spencer Horwitz RBIs! Noelvi Marte responds by hitting an inside the park homer on a play O’Neil Cruz got hurt on but they still trailed going into the 9th when Tyler Stephenson sent it to extras with a game tying home run! Both teams exchange runs in the 10th, but Pittsburgh is able to win after Horwitz gets another RBI and Yohan Ramirez shuts the door on the Reds!

It’s amazing how much some dramatic extra innings can help a game’s entertainment value. The first 6 innings were the Skenes show where he basically wrapped up his Cy Young campaign with a bow on top. But after he left, the Reds clawed back, then the extras were FULL OF DRAMA. So many long at-bats, it was driving me crazy. But out of everyone, the hero has to be Spencer Horowitz. Not only drives in 3 of the Pirates runs but drives in the winning one on top of it. Dude was a pest all night for Reds pitchers. Marte was clutch… until his last at-bat. This was a blown opportunity for the Reds, the Mets catch a break.
