The DRAMAAAA! This was mostly a grindy game just like the earlier playoff games today until the last couple innings. This also acts as a great case study in the value of having an elite starting pitcher that can go deep into games. Max Fried had a great game, keeping the Red Sox off the scoreboard… for 6 innings. Unfortunately, once Fried left, the Red Sox immediately pounced on Weaver who couldn’t get a single out before giving up multiple runs. Meanwhile Garret Crochet went nearly 8 innings while striking out 11 allowing just 4 hits. Which set up Aroldis Chapman to close it out in admittedly shaky fashion, but he closed it out.

Bottom 9. Bases loaded. No outs. I hate Boston. They’re our daddies now. Happy for Chapman. Boone gotta go. All my teams are ass. Sports are heartbreaking. I need something good to happen in my life. The love of my family isn’t cutting it. I need more. I love my family. They would have found a gap and scored 2, at least. Why can’t the Yankees do it when it matters? I love sports. 8.7.

Dramatic ending. Yankees had bases loaded and none out and they failed to score. Red Sox scored 2 on the Yankees bullpen on good baserunning and timely hitting. The go ahead run wouldn’t have scored if Nick Sogard didn’t take 2nd on a single where Judge didn’t get the ball in quickly. Red Sox up 1-0.

playoff baseball is an entirely different sport this game rocked so hard. Chapman might actually be the best pitcher in the game after getting out of that bases loaded ZERO out jam with a mix a gas and off speed guessers. Such confidence, I've never seen this version of him.
