I did not have faith in the Blue Jays. I had faith in Cam Schlittler. Turns out I was half right. While Schlittler was not as dominant as he was in Boston, he gave the Yankees a very good outing, keeping the Blue Jays in check. What I didn’t account for was my concerns in the Blue Jays bullpen being overblown. Jays played the bullpen game and somehow out-pitched Shlittler as a unit, even after getting worn down last game. And just like the World Series last year, fielding errors cost the Yankees at the worst time. Can’t forget the dubious decision to bring in Devin Williams when you need to get out of an inning unscathed. Seriously, wtf. Despite those easy scapegoats, honestly, the Jays outplayed the Yankees. No way around it. Yankees were fortunate to still have a shot and they couldn’t capitalize on the few chances they had at the end.

The Blue Jays are headed to the ALCS to play either the Tigers or the Mariners. Jays won a bullpen game and have home field advantage in a seven game series along with not having to use another starter for a game 5. It is the Jays first time heading to the ALCS since 2016.

Some otherworldly hitting in this series for Toronto:
Vladdy: 9-17, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 5 R
Clement: 9-12, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 5 R
RBI in the ALDS:
10 Lukes & Clement combined
10 Judge & Stanton combined
But the biggest hit of them all goes to Nathan Lukes...10 years in the making!...Jays are back in the ALCS for the first time since 2016!!
