This tight game was looking like it would be remembered for 1 thing, but then it got flipped on its head and almost ended in spectacular fashion. Blake Snell’s performance was magnificent and it hearkened back to his Rays years. He set career highs in innings pitched and strikeouts. He became the 1st Dodgers pitcher to have a 10 K 1 hitter in the postseason and just the 2nd pitcher ever to do both in the NLCS. He completely shut down the Brewers bat in a legendary performance and it looked like that would define this game. Freddie Freeman was the one that finally broke the deadlock and the Dodgers got a useful insurance run. That insurance ended up being crucial as Roki Sasaki finally looked human as the Dodgers closer and the Brewers finally got a rally going. All of a sudden, a game that looked one-sided became a nail biter decided by Brice Turang dodging a hit by pitch with the basses loaded that would’ve tied the game. Insane ending.

It was all about Blake Snell. He was untouchable. Eight innings, one hit, ten strikeouts — pure dominance. Milwaukee couldn’t do anything against him after the third inning. It felt like he was in total control the whole night. Freddie Freeman broke the scoreless tie with a solo homer in the sixth, and that swing felt huge in such a tight game. Then, in the ninth, Mookie Betts worked a bases-loaded walk to give L.A. a little cushion — and they definitely needed it. The Brewers made things interesting in the bottom half, scoring once and loading the bases, but Blake Treinen slammed the door with a strikeout to end it. There was also this bizarre play in the fourth inning where Max Muncy almost hit a grand slam, but Milwaukee’s Sal Frelick bobbled the ball at the wall and somehow turned it into a double play. It was one of those “only in October” moments that could’ve completely flipped the game.

Blake Snell throws a fucking gem and yet the bullpen STILL nearly ruins it. I NEED these dudes to get their shit together. The Dodgers did not win this game, they got bailed out by Bryce Turang through base instinct of self preservation and swinging at absolute bullshit. We are not making it out of this at this rate.

Very close ending. Brewers got to the Dodger bullpen and had bases loaded looking to tie or win. Turang barely got out of the way of an inside pitch on a 1-2 count and wished he didn’t. Blake Snell held down the Brewers all game long but the bullpen almost blew it and the Dodger offense almost didn’t suffice. A Mookie Betts bases loaded walk in the top of the 9th gave the Dodgers an important run (after intentionally walking Ohtani). I am rooting for the Brewers and for Uecker magic. That was the first game the Brewers lost to the Dodgers all season. They were 6-0 during the regular season. I believe in this Brewers team to be able to bounce back and turn the series on the Dodgers heads, but it will not be easy.

The Brewers pitching was great and their defense was phenomenal, especially the double play in the 4th, but Snell was lights out, and a homer from Freeman in the 6th and an insurance run in the 9th was just a bit to much for their 9th inning rally to over come. The Dodgers take game 1
