Top fan take from @FlameRaptorRaven: “The Cubs get a relatively easy win as Nico Hoerner shines and the Rays look worse than their stadium did after the hurricane for most of the game. The Rays looked shambolic on defense. The 3 errors the broadcast kept showing honestly undersell how bad they were. Bad positioning, bad throws, lack of urgency, pretty much everything you could be bad at on defense. That bad defense was the reason why and how the Cubs took a close game and blew it wide open. Also Hoerner was eager to prove his recent extension was well worth it. Hoerner started this game about as well as he possibly could’ve with a lead off home run and later drove in another run on a double after the Cubs scored 3 thanks to a calamity of errors from the Rays. Tampa finally figured out how to play baseball in the last couple innings while the Cubs temporarily forgot how to play defense. Luckily the Cubs pitching had a good day and made sure the game didn’t get out of hand. Or you could say they limited chances for mistakes.”
