Gore had a great game which has to be a much-needed confidence boost after a rough recent stretch. Not super dominant when you look at the strikeout totals, but being able to throw 8 innings of 1-run and 3-hit ball will be a great performance pretty much every time and we saw exactly why in this one. For 8 innings, it felt like an inevitable Rangers win. I can confidently say the Rangers led the whole way for once because Joc Pederson homered on the Rangers’ very first at bat and they never relinquished that lead. The Diamondbacks couldn’t get anything going besides a Vargas home run and the Rangers just kept piling it on, especially in the 5th inning rally. Then the Rangers took Gore out of the game and it was the stress began. Collyer couldn’t not walk a batter. 3 consecutive walks is never a good way to start a relief appearance. Latz came in to calm everybody down and he closed it out for us. ”
