I willingly sat through this game so I could give this low rating with confidence. The reward I got for that was genuine comedy when Rumfield hit a home run that bonked off of the of Mr. Home Run robbery himself, Jo Adell, to make the game 8-0 in the 4th. No moment this season better incapsulates what the Angels have been the last decade. The only way it could’ve been more fitting is if the ball bounced off of Mike Trout’s head instead, but sadly, the baseball gods do not have a perfect sense of humour. Even though that moment was enjoyable, comedy can only do so much for a baseball game. It’s not enough to salvage a game that became a one-sided pounding quickly, especially since I spent the next 5 innings just waiting for the end. Comedic chops merely save this game from going under 3.
The Rockies have plenty to be happy about with this one. Their bullpen shoved, 4 of the first 5 hitters in their lineup got multiple hits and 6 guys drove in a run. A total team effort in this BTA.
