For the first time all season, the Texas Rangers have won 5 games in a row and they did it without Corey Seager. How? Well, the simple answer in my mind is the Rangers have finally unlocked some hitting and resilience. The pitching was always there and Eovaldi was great… for 5 innings. He was cooked after the 6th, yet, we kept him out there anyway. Luckily he made it through without too much damage, and the bullpen made sure it was just a 4-4 game. This is where that timely hitting comes into play. After looking helpless in the 8th, the Rangers turned it on in the 9th. There wasn’t anything sexy; they just kept getting on base. Joc, Jung and Nimmo drove in runs to give us a cushion that was more than enough. It allowed my 3rd favourite Jacob (my favourite with a K) to close the game out.
Rangers never get the chance to do that if the lineup doesn’t help us comeback from a 2-run deficit mid-way through, especially Joc, he was finishing and starting runs. Maybe he can be the leadoff.
