I always love to see Jacob deGrom throw some great games. Injuries absolutely killed him but he seriously might've been in pitcher GOAT talks if they didn't. Back to back Cy Youngs in 2018-19, pitching an ERA of ONE POINT SEVEN ZERO in 2018. Absolutely absurd.
In 2021, he was even better. An ERA of 1.08. ONE POINT OH EIGHT. Through 15 starts, but then suffered a season ending injury. Dude was seriously on pace to have maybe the greatest season in pitching history. 146 STRIKEOUTS TO 11 WALKS. WHAT THE F***! I mean seriously if he stayed healthy he very well could have had the single greatest pitching season in the history of the sport of baseball. Injuries robbed us of one of the top 10 pitchers in baseball history. ERA+ of 373. WHIP of 0.554. He was 9th in Cy Young voting and didn't pitch the second half of the season. Genuinely insane. Injuries fucking suck.
