“Santiago Espinal batting for Ohtani”. Yes. Those words were said. Never thought those would ever be words I would hear in my life. It was only 5 minutes later we would hear that he came out due to left knee inflammation. Just a minor injury, hopefully he’s alright and back out on the field tomorrow. Brandan Bidois came up huge in the 7th for Pittsburgh, coming in with the bases loaded, already down 7-4 and retired Betts to keep them in the game. In the 8th, the Dodgers loaded the bases for the 2nd straight inning, but Bidois held them to 1 run on a sac fly.
But the Pirates wouldn’t go down easy. Their hustle showed up big time early in the 8th. Callihan got a leadoff triple and Mangum turned a single into a double and made it 8-5, and then Rafael Flores, who hit his first career homer earlier, got a double just out of Tucker’s reach to score Mangum, still with no outs. Henriquez held it right there though with 2 straight huge outs, and Scott finished off the inning and then the game.
