The Marlins defense sold Max Meyer’s perfect record with their defense, as he gave up 5 runs, but only 1 was earned. He is now 9-1. Javier Sanoja hit a two run triple to put the Marlins up 2-1 before making an error in the bottom of the fifth, which ended up assisting the four runs scored that inning. Mickey Moniak hit a go ahead two run triple, with the next pitch being a two run blast by Hunter Goodman. Joe Mack hit a pinch hit inside the park home run in the seventh, but that’s all the Marlins could muster up. Not a great start to July after an amazing June, but there’s still a whole month to turn it around.
