A truly unexpected pitchers duel. If I told you that the Reds and Phillies would be in a pitchers duel where both pitchers threw 7 shutout innings, you probably would've thought it was Zack Wheeler or Cristopher Sanchez against Chase Burns or Andrew Abbott, but no, it was Jesus Luzardo and Brady Singer. The Phillies finally got to Singer in the 8th to score 1 run, and that was all they needed. Very smart of the Phillies to take out Luzardo before he entered for the 8th inning, considering what they had just seen with Singer and the fact that his velocity had dropped significantly in the latter innings. Still, despite the struggles of the Reds hitters in this one, they managed to get JJ Bleday and Spencer Steer on base with nobody out against Jhoan Duran, arguably the best closer in baseball, but he then showed why he's in those talks, getting three straight outs and shutting them down. Just a beautiful pitchers duel and the Phillies barely sneak out a win.

Jesus Luzardo and Brady Singer had a pitchers duel going in this one. The Phillies scored in the eighth inning off of Singer after a HBP to Gabriel Rincones Jr., and Derek Hill pinch ran for him. Hill was stealing second on a grounder that put him in scoring position, and Justin Crawford drove him in on a single. The Reds would threaten in the ninth with two on and none out, but Jhoan Duran locked in after a mound visit, striking the next two out and ending the game on a groundout. Luzardo had 11 Ks.
