Game was certainly closer than the score said. Cardinals had a great chance to come back in that 8th inning. 5 left on base in this game for St. Louis and most of those came late in the game. They weren't able to capitalize on their opportunities and Aaron Ashby, a former starter who has turned into one of the best relief pitchers in baseball this year shut down their 8th inning rally attempt. The Brewers, as always, are quietly one of the best teams in baseball, 7 games ahead of the Cubs for first in the NL Central at 59-34, the second most wins in baseball behind only the Dodgers. The Cardinals are now 3 games out of the Wild Card, behind the Cubs, Phillies, and Marlins. They should go after a catcher, a couple relief pitchers, and an outfielder at the trade deadline this year and they could seriously contend for the playoffs, and you never know what kind of run they could make. The best trade they could make in my opinion would be acquiring JJ Bleday from the Reds.
