What a win for the Sox and its 8 in a row! I'll be honest though I didn't like calling up Rivera to start this one. I thought it was time to bring Bello back up. While of course he was terrible, he was the scapegoat for our early season struggles. If he needs an opener to succeed, give him an opener. Last season he struggled to start the season but by mid summer he was one of the best pitchers in baseball. As for this game though, with that pitching combo of Rivera-Weissert-Moran-Slaten-Coloumbe, I would've thought we would get destroyed, but somehow they got a shutout. Slaten with a great job getting out of a bases loaded jam and Coloumbe getting a huge double play. At the plate, it was Andruw Monasterio who was our best. A 2 run home run to open the scoring and then a triple that we should've capitalized on. Masataka Yoshida got the other 2 run shot to secure the win. Great pitching performance and the hitting did enough to win. Great game for the Sox, now let's win tomorrow.

That’s eight in a row, and 13-2 in our last 15 games. I would never expect the combination of pitchers we used would allow no runs, but here we are. Monasterio was great, very close to 2 home runs but one was enough. Masa got the other, he’s on a seven game hitting streak. We stranded many runners on base, but our pitching shut the Mets out of any of their chances. AS IM WRITING THIS WE ARE 0.5 GAMES OUT OF THE WILDCARD. I have belief in Payton tolle, who I recently found out likes donuts, to push the win streak to nine.

Eduardo Rivera and the Sox bullpen didn't always look pretty, but they were firm and didn't give in even as things looked dire. Monasterio looked fantastic with a homer and triple, Durbin was present for both homers to give some more cushion to the pitching, and Yoshida has been heating up again. The Mets are simply miserable, a sweep is all but confirmed.
