AL pitching dominated. Aside from the first inning, there was no scoring aside from Miguel Vargas’s solo homer in the seventh inning. The first All Star game shutout since 2013. And it comes in a year where the NL teams seem almost unevenly better than the AL teams, yet the AL pitching stuck it to the NL.

I’m torn. On one hand, I love great pitching and there was A LOT of great pitching in this game. On the other hand, in a game containing most of the game’s best hitters, we saw a grand total of 10 combined hits and most of them came in the first inning. Speaking of that 1st inning, the AL immediately grabbed the lead with a prolonged rally as Sánchez was probably wishing Ohtani had been around to start instead of him. Meanwhile, Dylan Cease struck out the side and set the tone for what this game would become. Out of the 11 pitchers the AL used, only 3 of them gave up a hit and it was 1 each. So even though the AL’s lead was not big, the NL could never do enough damage to actually threaten it. There were more pitchers that struck out multiple batters than gave up a hit. Vargas’s home run was the exclamation point on a dominant AL victory. Ultimately, I cannot deny that I enjoyed the pitching brilliance (especially Latz’s 1 strikeout), but I also can’t act like this was an exciting game.

It kills me that Trout went 0-3 and the National League didn’t put up too much of a fight, but the all-star game is always so fun! A 3 run first inning for the American League was more than enough to get the win and they got some insurance thanks to a Miguel Vargas nuke, but the star of the show was the pitching staff! They only allowed 3 hits and pitched the first all-star game shutout in 13 years! I just wish Trout did something

I love the All-Star game. The MLB All-Star game is so much better than the NBA and NFL's. Even though it was the Yankees players coming up big in the first inning, still was great to see the American League get a win.
It was beautiful to see Mike Trout playing in this game. Man he really had the potential to become the greatest baseball player ever. If the Angels could give him a championship team and he stayed healthy, he would be the greatest player in MLB history when he retired. I really hope this isn't his last All-Star game, he deserves to stay healthy and be in more.
I personally loved having both the pitcher and catcher mic'd up in the second inning. I am fully in support of having guys mic'd up nearly every inning, but it's better when its guys in the field rather than in the dugout. Great win for my American League, noahd's National League loses and that makes me happy. Great job by Aroldis Chapman getting a couple outs in the 9th as well.

Welp that was boring. It’s lowkey kinda impossible for these hitters to go up there and try to piece together a couple of hits when they are facing 1 of the 9 best guys in the league every inning.
The AL took advantage of a fizzling Cristopher Sanchez in the first inning with the Yankee fellas brining in 3 runs off of a pair of singles. White Sox went yard and the rest was pitching dominance.
Belli won the MVP for his 2 RBI’s.
Plilly was a great host for Americas 250 birthday. Wrigley next year will be a move. How can you not be romantic about baseball.
