Flashes of the March-June Red Sox in this one. Great outing by Jake Bennett, 1 run through 6 innings before that 2 run homer, but still, 6 and a third, 3 runs is a good outing. The offense was just nonexistent. No one made an impact at all on the offensive side, they just seemed dead for 7 innings. In the 8th we got one and then a 9th inning Wong Dong gave us some hope, but Seigler flew out to the wall. Tough way to end it. Still two more games against a subpar Athletics team, realistically, the Red Sox should be winning both of those games. While a series split wouldn't necessarily be bad, this is a series the Red Sox should win. Patrick Sandoval on the bump tomorrow, in this very batter-friendly Sacramento ballpark, I am very concerned for that one, but if we don't win Thursday with Sonny Gray on the mound, that's a very concerning loss. With all the momentum the Red Sox have right now, losing this series would be absolutely brutal. Need to keep the momentum going.

Jake Bennett pitched great again, but there was absolutely no offense until Connor Wong. This is reminding me of pre win streak Red Sox, where the pitchers do good but the offense sucks. Hopefully mead comes back soon, WHY DID HE HAVE TO GET A FRACTURED HAND IN HIS SWCOND AT BAT!
