It’s always exciting to see a top prospect’s first MLB game. We got that with George Lombard Jr. debuting for the Yankees today. He is New York’s top prospect and the #20 ranked prospect in all of MLB. He had some nice defensive plays before getting a moment he likely dreamt of growing up. In his second plate appearance ever, on an 0-2 count, Lombard blasted a home run to left centre field and got to sprint around the bases for his first career hit and home run in one fell swoop. His parents were there too and got to celebrate which was great to see. I’m a sucker for those moments. I was rooting for Lombard so hard just to have a great moment and I’m so glad we got it. Gives this game a full extra point. Aside from that, this game was pretty good, Yankees pitching dominated. Cardinals were dead
Side note: Shoutout to the Tigers. Lombard Sr. is their bench coach, but more importantly a dad so they let him attend the game in-person. Easily the best decision the Tigers have made recently
