This game looked like it would be low scoring until the eighth, when the Fish finally broke through on a Heriberto Hernandez solo homer. The Marlins scored one more (unearned) run that inning on a bases loaded walk. The Reds would get one back, but immediately give up five in the top of the ninth on a two run double for Agustin Ramirez and a three run homer for Javier Sanoja. Eury Perez pitched well, but his one problem was command as he walked too many Reds. Josh Ekness received his first major league win.
