I will never really appreciate a Dodgers win, but it was fun to see Skubal’s return to Detroit! He was great through six innings of one run ball! He didn’t leave with the win though because the Tigers were able to keep their offense in check! There were still a ton of baserunners, but they were able to get out of a ton of sticky situations! Los Angeles did eventually break through though as Miguel Rojas tied it on a hit right after Detroit took the lead, and Freddie Freeman gave them the lead in the eighth! Tanner Scott got the save as the Dodgers break their losing streak

Tarik Skubal returns to Detroit. I had this game circled on my calendar. It lived up to my personal hype on the pitching side, just not when it comes to the game itself despite what the final score might tell you. Let’s start with the good.
If you’ve been reading my baseball ratings, you know I love great pitching and this game was full of it. Skubal got a heartwarming tribute video and cried tears befitting a player I’m convinced never explicitly wanted to leave Detroit. He didn’t let the warm feelings faze him. Instead, he pitched 6 innings of 1-run ball while only allowing 4 hits. It is a performance that surely reminded Tigers fans of his Cy Young seasons. Don’t let Skunal take up all the attention, Drew Anderson also had a good outing. Granted it was much more shaky than Skubal’s, but nearly 5 innings of shutout ball will never be a bad thing. The main issue was after those starters left the game. Detroit couldn’t get any hits, let alone runs while LA lazily took the lead back.
