Haiti had so many chances late in this one and just couldn't convert. Both teams stayed very resilient throughout the game, and I really can't tell if this made me think better or worse of Scotland. I expected them to win this game by 2 or 3 goals, but Haiti kept it much closer than that. On the other hand, the way they stayed determined and found a way to hold off every late chance Haiti had was very impressive. This just isn't a good game to judge Scotland off of. Friday against Morocco will be the real determiner of how good this Scotland team is and whether or not they will be able to compete against Brazil and in the knockout rounds, if they make it.

Scotland played well, scoring a key goal to win it but Haiti's offense was unrelenting and gritty. Thankfully the Scottish defense was there to play too. Got a bit messy at times, but they kept themselves in it to win in the World Cup for the first time in 36 years.

A far better game than I was expecting and Haiti deserves credit for making that possible. Haitians have waited 52 years to see their countrymen represent them in the World Cup and despite the loss, I’d say the players made them proud. They were resilient, determined and came so close multiple times. On another night, they probably win. It just wasn’t meant to be tonight. With that being said, even though Haiti was the better team me, Scotland did what they had to and earned this win.
This was a very physical game. Lots of pushing and shoving from both teams and the officials were actually kinda consistent with letting it go. Scotland jumped on Haiti early and despite their best efforts, Scotland broke through thanks to a great shot from McGinn. The Scotsmen kept up their attack, but Haiti held them off. In the 2nd half, Haiti took over. Part of it was due to Scotland easing up and playing conservative, but Haiti had so many close calls. It made the game intense to the end.

game 7/104. haiti being the better side for basically the entire game is not something i thought i'd be saying pregame. once scotland scored a goal i thought this game would be over but haiti absolutely proved me wrong. they controlled possession especially down the left hand side and were constantly just taking shots from all over. they especially dominated the 2nd half when they were desperate for a goal. really unlucky to not walk away with a draw but a solid performance nonetheless. happy for scotland and their phenomenal fans though.
