Best game of the World Cup so far. Not even a debate. It was really a tale of two halves.
The first half was a bit boring, but the second was ABSOLUTE F*CKING CINEMA! Virgil Van Dijk gets it started off with a perfect header. Netherlands finally took to advantage the fact that VVD is 6 foot 5 and no player on Japan is taller than 6 foot 2. The Dutch lead only lasted for 6 minutes, as Nakamura tied it for Japan. I was shocked that his shot went in. Off balance, outside the box, kicked on the ground and somehow got through everyone. But then the tie only lasted for another 7 minutes, as we saw another goal from a Dutch defender, Summerville with a beautiful shot to retake the Dutch lead.
Japan’s gameplan for a comeback seemed very flawed. They kept going for crosses through the air, even though their strikers had a 5 inch height defecit on the Dutch defenders. But finally, on a corner it paid off. A beautiful header to tie the game 2-2. I called it. Best game of the World Cup so far.

Wow. Absolutely game of the tournament so far. Japan is one of the most dangerous sleepers of the tournament and they showed how dangerous they can be. Kept it level at 0-0 going into half and didn’t give up when going down by a goal, they immediately got it together and scored again. And even when the Dutch scored just a few minutes later to go back ahead Japan didn’t lose focus and tied it up late. Fuck England, Brazil, Spain, and France. I’m all in on the likes of Japan, United States, Morocco, Mexico. Year of the underdog

That second half was the best half we’ve seen so far this tournament. Whenever one side scored, the other answered. A game where anything other than a draw would’ve felt cruel. After a fairly tame and underwhelming first half, the second half more than made up for it. My game of the tournament so far.

Best game of the tournament so far. An absolutely eclectic draw between two dynamic groups of players. As a Canadian, I love the Dutch, but as a football fan, I love Japan. It was tough picking which team to root for so I’m ecstatic this was a fantastic game that ended in a draw. It didn’t look like it would be fun to watch at first. The Dutch back line was doing a fantastic job shutting down all of Japan’s advances, while getting some chances themselves. At halftime it was 0-0, but this game really picked up on the 2nd half.
It started with the man that led that Dutch defence, Virgil van Dijk, heading the ball out of the reach of Japan’s goalkeeper and opening the scoring. The last 40 minutes were epic. Back and forth chances. Nakamura scoring a crafty goal less than 10 minutes later, only for Summerville to do the same. Koeman bafflingly had his squad drop back and protect the lead and Japan’s vibrant attack tied it up. The last few minutes were slow as both teams preserved the draw

What a game! First half was lowk a DO NOT WATCH but my god that second half *chefs kiss* was priceless. It felt like the momentum was changing with every second and these teams took a show to Dallas with their play. Best draw I've seen in a second. Lowk wish we could get extra time during the group stage.

The second half of this game was pure class. The Dutch took the lead on two separate occasions and we're responded to by the Japanese. VVD opened up the scoring. Then Nakamura with a follow up. Summerville wrapped one in and it surely was the Netherlands game. But after a few failed crosses Japan finally found a goal in the 89th minutes and it was stellar from Kamada. Keeper got a glove on it but couldnt get it out. Brilliant draw
