A very up and down day of World Cup action. Cape Verde against Spain was of course a big positive, even though it wasn't a great soccer game but just what Cape Verde did was incredible. I'm sure others enjoyed Belgium-Egypt and Saudi Arabia-Uruguay, but I didn't find them very enjoyable. This was a solid game here though, a goal that almost saw a handball from New Zealand but they were able to get the goal, then some chaos in the box that led to Iran's equalizer. Again in the 2nd half though, Elijah Just scored for New Zealand. An absolute banger to give New Zealand the lead back. But then later, maybe the most perfect cross into a header I've ever seen. I still don't know how the ball comes off these guys heads with so much power. It truly amazes me. The result kind of annoyed me though. We didn't see a single win/loss today. Hopefully some tomorrow.

Fitting that we save the best draw for last on this distinguished day defined by draws. We got a game between 2 teams that felt they had everything to prove and it played out like a draw should as both squads played with a ton of passion. New Zealand jumped on Iran early and took the lead thanks to a blast from Just thanks to some help from New Zealand’s veteran leader Chris Wood. Luckily Iran wasn’t gonna go down without a fight and they began to claw back into the game before eventually finding the equalizer in the 32nd minute. After some more back and forth, we reached halftime
Believe it or not, I thought the 2nd half was even better, albeit slightly, which is still good considering the first half was great. It played out similarly to the first with New Zealand pouncing on Iranian mistakes, leading to another Just goal with some help from Wood. Just like before, Iran tied it, but took less time to do it this time. That meant we got even more back-and-forth football and close calls

We have the fourth draw of the day! this one was by far the most existing one. We all know what Iran is dealing with outside of football, so I'm not going to talk about that. They played great for not playing in a game since February. They went down two times and climbed back to tie the game. big point for Iran. New Zealand came in as the worst team going off of FIFA rankings ranked at 85th in the world. they have also played poor teams getting to the world cup. Wood had another great game getting two assists. Tim Payne did not do well having a match of 6.3 on fotmob. Ill be looking for hat tricks in the next couple matches. I was impressed with both teams and how they played. I finally got a pick right today hopefully I can get back on track. I should be tied for second now, lets hang on and get this badge baby. day 5 of the world cup has come to an end. see you tomorrow everyone.

I passed out about halfway through the second half but this game up until sleep depravation was so fun. Especially the first half just had the vibes of playing a game of fifa against the CPU and they keep pulling bullshit to draw it level. Fun game man
