Even though it’s a draw, this is one of the most shocking results in World Cup history. Spain entered this tournament as European champions and one of THE favourites to win it all. Cape Verde entered their first World Cup ever as the 3rd smallest nation to ever qualify. This was their first World Cup game ever. Yet, they both ended this game with the same amount of goals. Spain had the ball in their attacking half for like 90% of the game, but a combination of outsmarting and outworking with a bit of luck gave them a draw that might as well be a win.
This is the same kind of thing that cost Spain dearly in 2018 and 2022. I thought they finally had finishing, but clearly the Euros was an aberration and their attack solely relies on Yamal and Nico. With that being said, Cape Verde deserves all the flowers and more, especially their defence and goalkeeping. They shut down a team everyone thought was going to destroy them and given themselves a real chance to get out of the group. Bravo!

Absolutely riveting!! Lamine Yamal’s World Cup debut in the 77th minute the Spaniards emptying the tank on Cape Verde who just hung on for dear life!! Excellent commentary “there’s no way Cape Verde could actually win this thing right? There’s no way they score here right??” Match of the Cup so far for me.

Don’t come to with that “Spain is better than France”bull crap. I think Spain will be OK after all, this is the first World Cup game. Cabo Verde with a shocking upset to tie Spain. It’s not the end of the world Spain natives and fans. This team is destined for big things. They will be alright. Verde with a huge point looking to spring into the knockouts. This could get interesting down the stretch in this group.

The best Nill nill ever? Probably the biggest upset of this World Cup I don’t a bigger upset happening in the group stages at least incedible defending from Cape Verde the third smallest country in this World Cup this game is the second most mismatched game of the entire tournament. Spain are third in the fifa world rankings Cape Verde are 64th their first ever World Cup point as well the goalkeeper will be forever a hero and in Cape Verde this game Will be talked about forever
