For 66 minutes, this game was boring. Back and forth soccer, but nothing too exciting. But oh baby right before the hydration break things got crazy. Kylian Mbappe scored an absolutely beautiful goal just past the keeper. This was his 57th goal for France in international competition, tying him for the most in French history. It was also his 13th World Cup goal, tying him with Lionel Messi and fellow Frenchman Just Fontaine for 4th all time. It seemed like Senegal had the equalizer, but he was a couple steps offside, and France took full advantage of that lucky break, as Barcola got a great run and scored the goal to make it 2-0 France. But Senegal wouldn't give up! In the 95th minute, Mbaye (Mbappe's long lost African cousin) nailed an absolute banger of a Senegoal! Mbappe said he's the better cousin and just sniped an absolute banger. That was the soccer version of a LeFuck You three. But anyways, it got him to #3 all time in the World Cup and #1 for France.

The talent factory continues to churn out World Cup wins like it’s nothing as they take down Senegal squad I still believe is underrated. First half was mostly in Senegal’s. The back line did an excellent job restricting France’s dynamic attack while Nicolas Jackson was causing France issues with his pace, too bad he couldn’t finish, not even a shot from the middle of the box. Aside from that, the half was bland. Still, they went into halftime with lots to be happy with. The only problem is they made France angry
The second half was ALL France. After about 10-15 minutes of more of the same, France began to breakthrough Senegal’s strong defence and Mbappé drew a penalty… only for it to not be called in the most awkward way. That clearly made the French furious because Kylian scored shortly after, then Barcola doubled their lead. Senegal seemed rejuvenated after Mbaye’s beauty, only for Mbappé to jam a dagger through the hearts of Senegal. What a statement by Kylian and the French team.

Hell yea what a exciting game! Senegal played as well as they could against the favorites to win the tournament. Despite some first half chances they only scored one goal. Without mendy this could have been a blow out. France played a meh first half but that second half was great. I watched this with some friends, they had no clue what was going on. I had to explain everything to them. A very enjoyable game. Glad we got a winner and it was not a draw like the past couple games. I’ve gotten 5 picks right in a row and 2 World Cup picks right in a row. I will be seeing France play against Iraq in Philly so keep these goals up!
