I never want to hear a single person compare Cristiano Ronaldo to Lionel Messi. Ronaldo is making this Portugal team worse and I'm not afraid to say it. He is trying to get them to force the ball to him and it's not working. That will be the downfall of Portugal. They are trying to make it a Ronaldo story when they have to many other players who, in their current form, are better than Ronaldo.

Two things can be true. DR Congo put up a valiant effort, genuinely outplaying the Portuguese for significant portions and they deserve all the credit for that. At the same time, Portugal was absolutely pathetic trying to force feed balls to a 41-year-old that cannot finish at major tournaments instead of taking advantage of their boat-load of talent. It made for both an uplifting and frustrating viewing experience
It didn’t look like that at first. Portugal picked DR Congo apart and scored basically immediately. It looked like Portugal, even if it wouldn’t be easy, would find a way to beat DR Congo. After that, for whatever reason, they just stopped. Every time they broke through, they tried to feed it to CR7 who either couldn’t receive it or would blow the chance. DR Congo had twice as many shots on goal despite having just 25% of the possession
Still, DR Congo deserves a ton of credit. They stifled Portugal and capitalized on their own chances to get a point. They should be proud.

What a game! DR Congo played Incredible! Absolutely shut Portugal down. After the first 10 minutes it was all Portugal but as the game went on Congo kept responding and got their VERY FIRST World Cup goal. Absolutely ZERO reason Ronaldo should have been on for 90+ minutes, I would have not even started him and if I put him on it would be in the 80th minute. Portugal is better without him and it’s not even close. A huge point for the Congo, Wan-Bissaka was incredible in this game. I remember him playing for Man U and I loved having him there, now he plays for westham in the championship. This game was incredible, I would have lost my shit if Bruno Fernandez scored that shot. I freaking love Bruno. I don’t care I got my pick wrong this game was excellent! Can’t wait for England, bring it home fellas.

NOOOOO MY GOAT 😢😢😢, ronaldo just couldn't score today, other than that he didn't play bad, Congo very disciplined defending, i am disappointed with the whole portugal front four, Rafael leao should be starting i don't know what these Spanish coaches are thinking, hopefully portugal can do better vs Colombia and Uzbekistan, Vai portugal 🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹

Amazing game from the Congo, especially with that goal to tie the game right at the end of extra time in the first half. but I think our Ronaldo questions have been answered: this team will only go as far as he will let them go. What is 41 year old Ronaldo doing out there for a full 90? Mf literally has no legs left and is just trotting lightly everywhere. They need to cut the dead weight as great as he his and as sad as it is to say
