Colombia was once again playing at home with pretty much all 80,500 fans in Azteca Stadium. The national anthem had me balling hearing my fellow Colombians screaming it out of the top to their lungs.
I’ll be honest, we didn’t play well & playing like this I’m not sure how far we will get this World Cup. The 3-1 score is a little misleading because Uzbekistan was incredibly close to their 2nd goal before we got our third. James is too slow and he slows the rest of the team down. Thankfully Uzbekistan had a lot of lapses defensively and we were able to capitalize off that.
Chucho Hernández gave us one of the most exciting goals I’ve seen in a while with getting fouled twice and fighting for the ball with his life before delivering a perfect center to Campaz for a goal. The dream to qualify first in this group is more than alive. VAMOS COLOMBIA!!

Pretty solid game to finish off the night. Uzbekistan was trying to become the first team to win their first World Cup game since 2002 Senegal. That final goal for Colombia, just wow. A perfect cross hit in by a perfect header. Every team has now played their first group stage game, and it has been amazing. Can't wait for the next round of group stage games.

Great game. The oldest team in the tournament against the Uzbek wall. It was like watching a castle siege in Lord of the Rings. A bunch of shots and pressure from the invading forces while the castle stands strong… until it doesn’t. Muñoz finally broke through the castle walls and gave Colombia a valuable first goal. At halftime, Uzbekistan knew they couldn’t afford to sit back. If they were going to salvage anything out of this game, they had to take risks, they couldn’t sit back and let Colombia invade their fortress. They had to strike back. So they gathered their archers as a distraction and Fayzullaev jammed a sword to though Colombia’s heart. It seemed like they could pull a Cape Verde, only for Luis Diaz to ram through and take the lead back.
Moving away from the analogy, Uzbekistan didn’t give up. They kept scrapping out chances and it took an INSANE effort and perfect cross from Cucho Hernandez to banish the invaders. Uzbek nearly had a screamer in the final seconds, crazy.

I started watching the game at the 78 minute mark so I missed the first 3 goals of the game and I was confused as fuck the entire time wondering which team was which untill at the very end Colombia scored I got excited thinking it was Uzbekistan 😂 why must these jerseys be so confusing

The game was a lot closer than the score shows with Columbia burying a third right at the end of extra time. I’m not too big on Columbia this WC run but it feels like they could have played harder in this game. Great match to cap off week 1 of the group stage! Here we go boys!

Colombia basically played a home game in Mexico. Crazy crowed. Uzbekistan gets their first World Cup goal! This game was almost 3-2 with a SCREAMER off the bar in the 99th minute. A wonderful fight for the ball and a perfect cross right into the box and a perfect header to give Colombia their third goal. Uzbekistan played pretty strong. Colombia is in control of this group with those three points. this was the last game of the day :( I went 2/4 on picks today, mid day got to be better tomorrow. Cant wait for south Korea Mexico!
