What the hell was that? The most frustratingly fascinating game I've ever seen. If they played another 90 minutes I'm certain Ecuador wouldn't score. Room was insane but Ecuador couldn't hit the side of a barn with a brick. They just reminded me of the Jets in the ways they were inventing new ways to not score goals despite it looking like they were trying very hard to score goals. I hated it so much I kinda loved it. There were headers, howitzers, heel kicks, breakaways, free kicks, corner kicks, deflections, post hits. I'm pretty sure at one point an Ecuador player was helping a Curaçao player with a cramp and he was furious because he didn't know why he was helping him and you could see him yelling but he kept massaging the guys cramp out and that's exactly how I felt watching this match. Like I was doing something against my will and couldn't stop myself.

No game in this tournament has left me more baffled than this one. What the hell happened? On one hand, this is a historic match. Curaçao achieved a milestone as not just the smallest country to ever play in the World Cup, they are now the smallest country to ever earn a point at the World Cup. They can partially thank Ecuador’s incompetence, but they can mainly thank the Herculean effort of Eloy Room. The 37-year-old keeper was a brick wall, making save after save to earn Curaçao a historic draw. While that should be what this game is remembered for, I’m sadly going to remember it for another reason.
I’m convinced this ref accidentally swallowed his whistle and was too scared to tell everyone because in the 2nd half, he just stopped making any calls. I’m fully with the argument of letting the players decide, but if he’s not gonna blow it when guys are getting physically pulled down to the ground, why even have him there? That ending was a complete mess and his antics drag this down.

Ima leave this at a 5.0. I honestly don’t know what to think of it. Some horrible calls and terrible terrible commentary! Room had 15 saves and tied for the second most saves in a World Cup game. Curaçao gets their first World Cup point! Congrats to them! Ecuador straight disappointing, you gotta score at least one goal in two games against underdogs. Now they got Germany…

CURAÇAO! Congratulations on getting their first ever point at the World Cup. Room was outstanding. However…Ecuador…this is pathetic. I had such high expectations for you, but their attack (the weakest part of their squad) has been anemic. Looks like a likely group exit

WOW. Move over Turkey the real goal devastation is here. They were stopped a total of 15 times by Eloy Room. A name I recognized from his days with the Columbus Crew. But man that has to hurt. Just couldnt get one. Almost tied the record for most saves in a world cup match Room did. I feel like there's a lot more to dissect but it would be a broken record.
