Night and Day for Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal. After a game that left the entire world questioning CR7, Roberto Martinez and the Portugal squad, this is the exactly the kind of performance they needed: vindictive, merciless and dominant. From start-to-finish, Uzbekistan had no chance. Even better, CR7 got to show off he’s still got some gas in the tank with a couple goals in this game, neither being a cakewalk for the 41-year-old. He also became the first man ever to score in the 6 different World Cups. Alongside CR7’s re-emergence, I was most impressed with Nuno Mendes. He was absolutely ruthless on both ends of the field. Contributing to the attack, shutting down everything on his wing and making Uzbekistan wish they were playing Colombia again.
With all that being said, this game basically had no drama aside from anticipating CR7’s hat trick. Uzbekistan’s only goal was taken away because of a foul. This game comfortably escapes the red because of greatness, but can’t be green.

The team we saw against DR Congo might be dead. Uzbekistan got absolutely dog walked. Goes to show how good DR Congo might actually be. Ronaldo scored his first two goals of the tournament and almost had a hat trick just like many of the other stars. Uzbekistans tournament is probably over after today’s loss. They need to be proud of making it this far and scoring a goal. I only watched the last couple minutes of the first half and parts of the second. I had Portugal all the way. Another pick correct let’s keep them coming baby!

Ronaldo gets two down and becomes the first player ever to score in 6 straight World Cups. Talk about longetivity as a 41 year old. Cements his name ever more in the record books even through everybody’s criticizing of him.
Uzbekistan looked like a completely different team today. They defended well against Colombia but thought they went too far ahead in this game to start off and then it was too late to come back. Complete domination

Portugal dominated. Uzbekistan had a goal disallowed and that was one of their few real scoring opportunities. Ronaldo bags 2 and almost gets a hatty. This Portugal team came back strong after a bad showing against DR Congo last week, showing why they're one of the favorites. Ronaldo also becomes the first player to score in 6 world cups which is crazy. He now claims to be back and we'll see how true that is.

game 45/104. massive bounce back for portugal and ronaldo. he was definitely aware of the media coverage surrounding him after dropping a stinker in match day 1 and bounced back one of the best ways he could. really rough day for uzbekistan seeing the only positive they had from this game be taken away for a foul. portugal just controlled everything about this game and it started from the PSG trio of joao neves, vitinha and nuno. special shoutout to the portugal set piece coach who drew up some beautiful plays that brought portugal 2 goals. sets up a really great game for portugal against colombia in match day 3.
