Both teams had plenty on the line and played like it… eventually. Japan continued their beautiful, fast and aesthetically pleasing style while Sweden’s high-end talent made big play after big play. Japan was stealing and leading the show at-first. If you don’t like watching Japan, I’m sorry, you do not like watching football. Their quick passing style along with pacey runs is a joy and it manages to throw Sweden’s defence off at some points. Unfortunately, Japan couldn’t do much with it in the first half. Luckily, we wouldn’t have to wait long for action
Japan opened the scoring just 10 minutes in with a beautiful team-goal to open the scoring. With Netherlands only leading by a goal to Tunisia (at the time), the door was open for Japan to take the group on goal difference. Sweden had other plans. Elanga fooled the keeper with a beautiful curling goal and the Swedish attack had Japan on their heels basically the entire rest of the game. Suzuki had to make some huge saves to keep a draw

Both teams seemed quite evenly matched like the score line suggests. Japan's goal was beautiful teamwork and passing, and Sweden's was a great individual strike from just outside the box. Both teams go through as Japan faces a beatable Brazil team and Sweden are the highest ranked 3rd place team as of now.

Two beauties of goals scored. First in the 56th minute Daizen Maeda scored one just on the 18 and the passes that found him were top class. Lovely football there. Then Anthony Elanga responded 6 minutes later with an extraordinary goal that he shot from the right side of the box that curled into the left side of the goal. No more goals after that but the game was tightly contested. And the end result was good for both teams. Both are through to the RO32. Japan does have to play Brazil though😬

Sweden force a draw! I was simply not expecting this from Sweden at all. I know I say shoutout a lot but shoutout to those four Swedish guys who I met on an elevator in Philadelphia, I’m sure they enjoyed this much more than I did. Japan still looks like a very strong team, they had chances to win but at the end it was not to be. Both teams should advance to the knockouts. I had Japan, I kinda wanted to pick draw but I felt like Japan would get it done. They obviously did not, no biggie I got this.
