Senegal obliterates Iraq, simple. Iraq had a chance to miraculously revive their World Cup hopes in this game, as did Senegal. Unfortunately for Iraq, this game went from bad, to horrible to catastrophic in quick succession. It started bad when Senegal scored just 4 minutes in. Considering they were technically still alive, it was not ideal. Then it got worse when Iraq nearly gave away a breakaway, only to earn a red card instead when Rebin Sulaka yanked down his man to prevent it. Yet, it somehow got catastrophic when their keeper got hurt and nearly had to leave the game 20 minutes in (he was eventually taken out in the 2nd half). Despite all that, Iraq remained strong in the first half and managed to keep it a 1-0 game and kept optimism alive. Unfortunately, there was a second half and Senegal stomped a mud hole in Iraq. It hurts me to say, but the Lions of Mesopotamia have joined Tunisia as a contender for worst World Cup performance, both this year and ever. They’ll be back.

Well Senegal, that's certainly a way to keep your hopes alive. I had them finishing third in this group, I picked not only the standings order correct but every individual game of the group correct. Feel free to pat me on the back now.

Goals, Goals, Goals, the Senegal team showed who they were in this game as they put 5 past Iraq. Chances are is that they qualified for the knockout round. Iraq was not good enough to compete at this level as they take a early exit.

Senegal sneaks into a Knockouts spot with 3 points and +5 GD, and is almost confirmed into the R32. Poor overall tournament by Iraq, and Senegal really put some BTA in this match, making up for the last 2 against France and Norway. This Senegal team really has to step it up if they want a good chance to get to the R16, since they will be playing a high seed.

I feel for Iraq and their fans, getting destroyed on ALL of your games and not even scoring a goal in sad. @FlameRaptorRaven made a Did You Know about them and he summed it up pretty well. Go check it out. Senegal gets a much needed win and gets some of their goal differential back. Senegal is such a good team, it sucks they were put in such a difficult group. Hopefully they have a good knockouts if they make I honestly don’t know if they even can I gotta check the standings. I had Senegal all day easy pick, I’m still really high on them.

here we go again with the iraqi blueprint.... start with high Hope's and confidence make devastating mistakes near the defense that kills the whole offense and finish it with a total collapse in the 2nd half after all what iraq went through just to get in the world cup this performance across all 3 games is devastating, and calls for major changes especially on the defensive and goalkeepers sides

That’s how you get into the next round. Complete obliteration from Senegal to get their 3 points plus have enough goal difference to qualify as a best 3rd team. Iraq looked completed lost out there and could not keep up with the speed and strength of Senegal in this one

Senegal went all out when it was most needed now they just have to wait and see if they make it to the knockout stages

Senegal may have just punched their ticket to the round of 32 just from this game. They are now +2 gd and leading the teams with 3 points knocking Scotland out. They scored so much partly due to Iraq going down to 10 men early. Just dominant from the afcon champs.
