Sexy blowout 101: no matter how bad a team gets dominated, if the play on the field is aesthetically pleasing, it’ll be fun to watch. This game personified that line of thinking. Sweden did manage to keep this game competitive for like 20 minutes, but France turned on their afterburners and had Sweden on their heels the rest of the way. France had multiple close calls that could’ve given them the lead.
Mbappé finally opened up the scoring and became the all-time leader in World Cup knockout goals, in a very fitting way I must say. Weaving through defenders before firing a curling shot from his hip, quintessential Mbappé. Despite it being just 1-0 at halftime, Sweden was cooked. Barcola confirmed that shortly into the 2nd half and Mbappé added an exclamation point to it.
Spain from 2008 to 2012 had the greatest international midfield ever, but with the way the trio of Mbappé, Ousmane Dembele and Michael Olise is looking, they may have the greatest international attacking trio ever.

Olise, now with 5 assists, leading the tournament; Mbappe with 6 goals and 2 assists, leading ALL-TIME in knockout goals; this is one of the strongest attacks we have seen in the World Cup this century. France shows no mercy on a lackluster Swedish side, but not much they could've done against this French juggernaut.

France was dominant as expected. Sweden was just overwhelmed by how well France play together. This is the first knockout game that wasn't really close. Mbappe and Olise look world class and championship caliber. France plays Paraguay next which realistically should be another relatively easy win for them, but you never know after Paraguay just beat Germany.
