Kind of a surprise, but also not really. I was 100% expecting an ass-kicking. Yeah, Paraguay’s defence has been excellent since the USA game and they did beat Germany, but this France team is clearly superior while boasting the best attack in the tournament. Surely they’d break down Paraguay, even if they managed to hold them off and Gill made some clutch saves, I just felt France would eventually stomp them. That never happened. However, that doesn’t mean France didn’t dominate. At the 89th minute, France had nearly 500 completed passes while Paraguay had less than 100. But that wasn’t even the story of the game.
I saw multiple Americans on this app say ‘I didn’t miss much’ in reference to the first half. They’d be correct in terms of actual football, they’d be wrong when it comes to drama. I thought Canada-Morocco had beef, Paraguay-France spent an entire game trying to piss each other off, Paraguay being the chief offender. Still, it took a penalty for France to beat Paraguay.

Paraguay is a disgrace to football; I can't believe the referee didn't pull a single yellow card for any of them. I hate Mbappé's attitude on a daily basis, but it was perfect for him to be rude back to Paraguay at the end.
France looked lost at times during the match. In my rankings, they were the favorites to win the tournament, but now I'm not completely sure.
