This was a strange one. On one hand it came down to the wire, ending with a perfect pass from Ferran Torres to Mikel Merino who finished it delicately to win it for Spain in the final minutes. That goal was then followed up by a couple heart stopping chances for Portugal that ultimately proved futile as the final whistle blared on their World Cup hopes and CR7’s World Cup career. Ultimately, this should be remembered as a tightly contested battle between 2 nations that share a border
On the other hand, the best way I can describe the 90 minutes before that goal is ‘lack of capitalization’. Although Portugal put up a better fight than I thought they would, the first half still slightly leaned in Spain’s favour. In the 2nd half, there was a turning point, Nuno Mendes got hurt. His absence limited Portugal’s attack and defence, leading to Spain having total control and giving the game a feeling of inevitability
So I have decided to give this game a 5 to represent 2 sides of the same coin

Much lower scoring than I expected. Spain’s offense has just been dead in this World Cup when they play a half-decent opponent. Portugal had a chance but Ronaldo’s magic ran out. This Spain team is not impressing me at all. I do think they take down the USA unfortunately, but France will beat them for sure.

what a joke of a game , Portugal is a laughable team to say the least no spirit no tactics, late subs...ect they deserve to be kick out like this and spain did win but what a disappointment of a team they are so far the Hope's were through the roof before the world cup for them but all I see is a shaky team hopefully they can tighten up their play next game
