Wow. Argentina somehow avoids disaster. Incredible effort by Egypt but they fell apart late. Colombia is an incredible team, much better than many realize, and honestly the way Argentina played against Cabo Verde and Egypt, I’m taking Colombia to end Messi’s international career. Still wondering why that play for Egypt that preceded their counter attack goal wasn’t reviewed for a penalty kick. Argentina is nowhere near their 2022 team and I they will not win the World Cup again.
To be fair though, the ending of this game was amazing. Messi scored and Argentina made a great comeback. It was very fun to watch.

Unbelievable. Argentina has plot armour. They looked dead. They looked defeated. Their hero and the GOAT of the sport looked like a 39-year-old from the MLS for 75 minutes. Even bad officiating couldn’t stop Egypt as Zico had a goal taken away, only to score minutes later. By all means, we should be celebrating a legendary triumph for the Pharaohs. Instead, this will go down as a historic comeback for Argentina and a massive missed opportunity for Egypt. Messi’s Barca spirit repossessed his body and he went god mode. He assisted the first goal, nearly assisted the 2nd, then scored it himself and watched Enzo score the winner while Egypt somehow only had 2 defenders back for the counter. Messi crying at the final whistle says it all, what an emotional rollercoaster
However, I cannot in good conscience give this game the 10 it probably deserves because of ref shenanigans. The super late foul call to take away Egypt’s goal, letting everything go just to pull out a dozen yellows, shitshow

in the words of flame what a shit show. first off we got some classic FIFA corruption calling a goal back on a weak foul that happend a whole 100 meters back. then egypt was able to take a 2-0 lead. and it looked over for argentina. and then Messi carries the team on his back with good services. and a goal. it ends up being a big choke by egypt. but of cource argentina delivers a racist comment to Egypt which is why people including me dont like argentina there all Racists.

The calls were questionable, the ref was spamming yellows to a frustrated Egyptian bench, and VAR was inconsistent, but it added to the drama. I just get frustrated when players dive looking for a foul.
But wow, what a game and a great comeback from Argentina, showing that they can fight back when they are down. However, Egypt and Cabo Verde also showed us that Argentina is vulnerable by pushing them to the limit. I feel bad for Egypt because they had two great goals, but one was disallowed over a late VAR review. I can't feel too bad for them, though, because they really let Argentina score two goals in the second half in a few short minutes and then a third at the end.

Speechless would be a word to put to this game. Argentina had the lock in of all time. Egypt took a 2-0 lead with goals from Ibrahim and Ziko. It looked like their game. Messi missed a penalty and Argentina couldnt get it done in the attacking third. It took until the 79th minute to get one from Christian Romero as he perfectly timed his run and headed one in. Then the Goat banged one in bar down and extended his goal scoring streak in the world cup to 9. Then the pain came to the Egyptians as Enzo Fernandez scored from a header off a counter. Shobeir the goalie for Egypt was actually really great this game but its hard to keep this team out. This Argentina team will just escape and thats all you need. I feel really bad for the Egyptians because to lose a game like that is obviously just heartbreaking. But it made for a great comeback and game. Argentina 2 excellent games this knockout stage.

Remontada histórica y como siempre Lionel Messi apareciendo en los momentos importantes. Cuando todo parecía acabado para la seleccion Argentina, Messi se inventa un pase hermoso al Cuti que acaba en gol, y por si fuera poco mete el gol para el empate. Una lástima para los Egipcios que les estaba saliendo bien la de quedarse atrás después del 2-0
