I expected this to be a low-scoring game, but Colombia absolutely disappointed. I figured they would score 1 maybe 2, but they scored none. Luis Diaz had much smaller of an impact than I expected. Switzerland held their own against a great Colombia side. Kobel came up huge for Switzerland. I guaranteed that Colombia would beat Argentina and they didn’t even get through Switzerland. Never let me make a prediction again 😭

I had a lot of hope for this game, especially for Colombia. In some ways it lived up to my hopes and yet, the primary thought this game left me with was “underwhelming”.
The game itself was mostly underwhelming. Both sides were skittish about making the big mistake that would lose the game so they slowed down the pace and didn’t take many risks. It made the game slow and less exciting in bang-bang plays. Fortunately it picked up in extra time where we saw some wild plays, but that also leads me to my next point.
Colombia was underwhelming. Colombia was on a roll. They were a toe away from having 4 wins coming into this game. They had the dynamic attack with James Rodriguez, Luis Suarez and Luis Diaz, but all that screeched to a halt throughout the 90 minutes. It finally picked up in extra time, but Colombia couldn’t finish to save their lives, not even when wide open. It was fitting that a Kobel save won this game. The Swiss somehow found a way to win it by clipping Colombia’s wings
