What a stunning goal from that guy on Argentina! No clue what happened for Switzerland to get that red card but it totally killed whatever mojo they had. Shocked this even made it to OT. Don’t sleep on the Swiss. They’re gorgeous.

Incredible performance from Switzerland, playing a man down taking Argentina to the second half of extra time is amazing. Alvarez had a beautiful shot, you can’t place it any better than that. I was so impressed with how long this Swiss team held on for. I would have loved to see this go to penalties but it was not to be. England-Argentina will be a great game hopefully. I hope England wins, but it has felt like all tournament long France-Argentina rematch was only a matter of time.

Oh my lord. Julian Alvarez. What a shot. Absolutely rocketed into the top right corner of the net with the perfect curve on the ball. Impressive performance by Switzerland to play down a man, but their offense after the red card was nonexistent and after Alvarez' absurd goal there was no chance they'd be able to find a way to equalize. While a lot of people are going to call Argentina frauds, it has amazed me how well they've been able to play in the clutch, and I think it is going to pay off big time when it comes down to it. I do think Argentina takes down England, England really didn't impress me all that much against Norway and while Argentina hasn't been at their best in this World Cup, they still have the greatest player to ever touch a soccer ball on their team and an incredible roster around him.

My cousin attended this game. So good for him. There was no point of playing all the other games. They should have just skipped straight to the final 4. Final 4 still gonna be peak tho.

Argentina looked shaky again and Switzerland was probably the better team for most of this game, but that all turned on its head when Switzerland went down to 10 players! It was a very controversial yellow that I don’t have too many issues with since it was such an egregious flop, and Argentina completely dominated from that point! Switzerland put up a valiant effort to bring it to a shootout, but Argentina was able to score and then get some insurance to seal it deep into extra time! This is like all four 1 seeds making the March Madness final 4

Argentina just keeps playing with fire. They have been unable to dominate their opponents in the knockouts and this game is no different. It was far from easy, but individual brilliance, a lucky break and a GOLAZO won them this game. Switzerland was the people’s choice for obvious reasons, yet they were seen as major underdogs. They busted that perception in the first 10 minutes, keeping Argentina on their heels. Sadly, it didn’t matter because a perfect Messi corner set up Mac Allister for the first goal of the game. Switzerland’s attack continued challenging the Argentine backline, particularly at the start of the 2nd half when their opponents foolishly stayed back. Ndoye made them pay with a brilliant goal. Everyone wil talk about Embolo being sent off for a dive. While I initially balked at this decision, I actually agree with it now. The dive was clear and he knew he had a yellow, gotta be careful. Kobel kept Switzerland in it, only for Julian Alvarez to score a beauty for the win

Argentina had to go the distance to beat the swiss in this one. Their run of barely beating teams they should be much better than continues. The Swiss didn't help themselves when their striker simulated a dive in the 2nd half putting them down to 10 men for the end and for extra time. This really put the swiss on the back foot and they couldn't do much after. Alvarez with a great goal to make it 2-1 in extra time before the final goal to seal it, one of the goals of the tournament. The Swiss gk was having a great game before the 2 extra time goals. Argentina unfortunately move on to play England which will be their first real top 20 team test in this entire tournament.

Embolo es el jugador más tonto por no decir otra palabra que he visto en este mundial. No podes ponerte a fingir una falta para ganarte un tiro libre teniendo ya 1 amarilla

Easiest path to the semifinals. Cabo Verde, then Egypt, and now Switzerland. They struggled heavily against Cabo Verde, required extremely questionable calls against Egypt which, if not for them, they would have most definitely been knocked out, and now, even with a soft red card, they STILL struggled to score. Let’s see how they perform against a top class team (although England had struggled as well).
