Third place games should not count toward the golden boot race. Mbappe got to statpad goals here in a game that does not matter, putting him 2 ahead of Messi, who is actually in the championship, and likely taking away his chance at becoming the first player to win multiple golden boots.

what the fuck😭😭😭 This second half was literal cinema. More cinematic than the odyssey. It feels like France and England swapped defenders at half. England had one of the best first halves this World Cup and then Mbappe locked in. Olise might have worse aim than a division 2 Saudi substitute. He prob could’ve won it for France. Bellingham’s goal just the cherry on top for a crazy match that I did not expect. And shoutout Mbappe for the most World Cup goals ever

"Goals are on the menu in Miami tonight" What the actual FUCK did I just witness. 3rd place games are not supposed to be like this. At half time I thought France was COOKED. Then they started coming back. Then Bellingham gave the finishing dagger and ended it. No Harold No Problem for england. Ref was also pretty chill and didn't call some at the end so we could keep watching but got in the way in the end. Mbappe leading the hat trick race. Absolute Chaos.

Safe to say my prediction was a little off. If this game had a level of intensity and competitive nature much above that of a friendly for the first 45 minutes I probably would've rated it a 10. In the first half france looked asleep making a very ons-sided half. However the second was the opposite leading to an extremely fun game to watch. Ridiculous game + Saka hatrick.

Find me someone who predicted this score and I will show you a liar! I don’t care what anyone says, NOBODY saw this coming. What started out as the biggest blowout of the tournament turned into a near-miraculous comeback just for England to finally put their throat on France’s throat after tapping it on the side for 40 minutes. Certainly a rollercoaster, but one that I wish had been more exciting throughout instead of being a lazy river in the first half and the ramps finally coming in the second half.
England was completely dominant in the first half. Despite rotating the starting 11, Saka made Tuchel’s decision to not play him against Argentina looked ridiculous as he scored a couple beauties to give England a 4-0 lead at halftime. France truly looked like they didn’t want to be there. Then Mbappé emerged from the sewers like a ninja turtle and willed France back only for the addition of Bellingham and a Saka penalty to put France in the ground for good. What a strange and fun game.
