Guardians had full control over this game from the top of the first inning. Angel Martinez and Daniel Schneeman both went yard, and Kyle Manzardo capped it off in the 8th.
Looking back, pre-gambling scandal Luis Ortiz could've been a stud. 5 and 2/3 innings scoreless, allowing only 3 hits and striking out 7. The other gambler, Emanuel Clase shut the door with a scoreless inning in the 9th. Could've been a great duo if they didn't ruin millions of dollars in legal MLB money for a few thousand dollars of illegal gambling money. Some of these guys gotta get their IQ tested because like what the fuck makes you think thats a smart idea?

Absolute cinema of a game! The Yankees stormed out to a 3-0 lead, but I mean, it was against Patrick Corbin, so does it really count? In the second inning, the Rangers locked in and retook a 4-3 lead. After a Stanton 2-run homer in the 4th, it stayed 5-4 all the way until the 9th. Here comes Devin Williams to close out the game! Key words: Devin Williams. Yup, he blew the lead, allowing a game tying home run to Joc Pederson. The same Joc Pederson that hit .181 last year! And then in the 10th, Josh Jung walked it off with a 3 run homer. This put the Rangers at 59-55, and the Yankees at 60-53, in the middle of the American League Wild Card race. This game had huge implications and certainly lived up to the hype.

Absolute shocker. Georgia Tech came into this 8-0 and ranked #8. NC State and GT went back and forth in the first half, ending win NC State up 24-17. In the second half, NC State went ahead by 15, and despite GT's efforts, they couldn't mount a comeback.
After this, Georgia Tech would go on to lose 2 of their final 3 games, missing the ACC Championship and ruining their chance at a playoff berth. NC State used this as momentum to finish the season 7-5 and dominate Memphis in the Gasparilla Bowl.

This game was absolute cinema early in the year. Man, when Texas Tech had JT Toppin healthy, he was looking like a Wooden Award contender and Texas Tech looked like one of the best teams in the nation. Toppin put up a 19 point 10 rebound double double in this one. Texas Tech has been 3-3 since the Toppin injury, and I'm worried for their tournament hopes.
On the Duke end, this shows how quickly Boozer settled into college basketball. Put up 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists on 7/11 field goals. This was Duke's first loss of the season, and they've only lost once since.

This game was such a blowout 💀
This should've been the time everyone realized Jeremiyah Love was the best running back in college football if they hadn't already. And it wasn't close at all. In this game, he had 8 carries for 171 yards and 3 touchdowns. Yep, thats TWENTY ONE YARDS PER CARRY. Absolute domination.
Craziest stat I've ever seen: Notre Dame had MORE POINTS THAN PASSING YARDS!!!!
CJ Carr threw for 49 yards and Kenny Minchey had 18, for a total of 67. I have no idea how the hell that happened but it is certainly a statistic of the century. Notre Dame had 4 different players score a rushing touchdown, as well as 2 defensive players scoring a touchdown and a blocked punt TD!!
Second Crazy Stat: Notre Dame was up TWENTY ONE TO NOTHING before they TOUCHED THE BALL ON OFFENSE. Again, how the hell does that happen? Syracuse football absolutely in shambles lmfao.

Florida led after the first quarter, but then it was ALL Kentucky. Florida had absolutely zero answer for Kentucky's run game
Dante Dowdell- 7 carries for 104 yards and a TD
Seth McGowan- 22 carries for 92 yards and 2 TDs
Kentucky's passing attack did just enough ti get them the victory. Neither of these teams had successful seasons.

This was the closest 26 point game in the history of sports. USF gave Alabama a great fight and looked like they might have a chance to win late. It was 14-13 Alabama after 3 quarters and 21-16 Alabama with only 3 minutes left. Alabama scored to ice the game with 55 seconds left and of course being the overrated statpadders they are they had to score 2 more touchdowns to run up the score. Nonetheless it was a fun game to watch, I was rooting for USF to pull off the upset the entire time.

This was a great performance from the most underrated starting pitcher in the league, Freddy Peralta. The Mets got an absolute stud with him. They've got a really interesting rotation going into this year. Headlined by Peralta, and then a solid veteran lefty in David Peterson, I think he'll contribute well with an ERA around 3.30. Kodai Senga and Clay Holmes are two very unpredictable pitchers, we'll see how they turn out this year. And then its 2026 NL Rookie of the Year Nolan McLean. Yep, that's me calling it now. They've also got a couple other young stars waiting their turn in Triple A in Tobias Myers and Jonah Tong.

This was certainly a game in football history. ULM led 24-7 at half and 31-7 in the third. Then UTEP scored 18 straight. They made it a one score game with 2:35 left. But ULM held on.
How this game affected college football history:
While ULM won this game, and the next, neither were very convincing. They then struggled the rest of the season, losing their final 8 games. One of those was a 42-7 loss to Northwestern. Northwestern then used that momentum from beating ULM to pull off a shocking upset over Penn State. But what if ULM had convincingly won this game without a late game collapse? Maybe they take that momentum into Northwestern, beat them, and then Northwestern loses to Penn State. Then maybe Penn State's only loss is to Oregon. They go 11-1. Including a win over Ohio State and Indiana. They get a Big 10 championship berth. They win that. All of a sudden, they're the #1 team in the College Football Playoff. Absolute cinema.

Holy cinema. Game of the Year for 2025. Double overtime. Nuggets with a wide open layup at the end chance to take a three point lead and Russell Westbrooks just completely misses. Nickiel Alexander-Walker sinks the two shots at the end to win it. Really tough to get a game better than this. Ant with 34-10-8, Randle with 26-9-7, Alexander-Walker with 26-8-8, Aaron Gordon with 30-8-5, and then Nikola Jokic. The best player in the NBA. SIXTY POINT TRIPLE DOUBLE. This man is superhuman. I have no idea how he does it. But it didn't matter how many he scored earlier, the missed a crucial free throw at the end and it opened the door for Minnesota to win the game. Absolute cinema.

The 2025 college football season started off with a bang. a wild upset in Tallahassee at the hands of the Seminoles of FSU. Their run game was unstoppable. All 4 of their TDs on the ground.
However, after this, Alabama locked in. They went 10-1 the rest of the regular season with their only loss by 2 to Oklahoma. Despite a crushing 21 point loss to Georgia in the SEC title game, they made the playoffs and got their revenge over Oklahoma with a great first half comeback. They then lost by 35 to Indiana.

Of course I'll tell you how this game affected the history of sports. Because the Fever won this game, the Aces then won the rest of the series because that makes sense. Anyways, the Aces won their 3rd championship in 4 years. Decent chance this was a part of the cause for the new salary rules in the WNBA, raising the salary cap to $7 million dollars and the minimum salary being $270,000. Had the Fever won it all, the WNBA may have seen it as less competitive imbalance and it would've been harder for the players to fight for their extra pay.

Yes, of course I can tell you how this game affected sports history. This certainly wasn't Grand Canyon's only win this season, nor was it their most impressive. Lets travel to later in the season, specifically to January 17th. They came into a game against #23 Utah State. They were coming off a loss. But they won that game. But would that have happened if they lose this game? Of course they wouldn't have. Because if they lost this game, they wouldn't have carried its momentum into their next games to play close against St Louis and beat Big 12 Utah. Imagine they lost all those games, and maybe a couple others. Instead of ending 2025 8-4, they end it 4-8. They are dejected. They feel like the seasons over, theres no purpose. Now Utah State wins on the 17th, and maybe instead of being a 9 seed in March Madness, they're a 7 seed. Maybe they're the ones facing 10 seed Missouri. What if Missouri wins, takes down Purdue, Texas, and even Arizona?

This was an absolute banger of a game. I honestly wasn't too hopeful for Georgia coming into this season especially on defense, and this game proved my worries when they got TORCHED by Chris Brazzell. And honestly, Georgia struggled on defense all throughout the year and that's why we lost to Ole Miss in the playoffs. But London Humphreys is an absolute stud, I'm super excited for him to be a premier wide reciever this year and with Gunner Stockton at QB, they gonna be the coldest white boys in the nation.

Like what the hell is a Christian Encarnacion-Strand? Or, as MLB The Show called him, Christian EncarnacionStrd. Yes, he made MLB The Show run out of characters. hey, at least his name statpads by word count! got off topic there, but he hit a home run in this game which is why I brought it up. This was uhhhh certainly something. Definitely would've been a fun one to watch, I love high scoring games like this. A 2 overtime thriller that ended in a Ragin Cajuns win.
Now, of course this game affected CFB history. If Marshall had won this game, they would've been on a 5 game winning streak headed into Coastal Carolina. While that's not a big game, it was the one after. Marshall vs James Madison. Every game mattered for James Madison. If Marshall won that game, (which they of course would've had they won this overtime thriller. why? because I said so) JMU would not be headed to the playoffs, and Duke would've taken their spot. Imagine what could've happened between Duke and Oregon. What if Darian Mensah went for 500 yards and 7 TDs? It would've also made for a VERY interesting matchup considering the fact that Mensah's sister plays soccer at Oregon. Who would she be rooting for? And what if who she was rooting for decided the winner?

Yeah, that's what you thought I would say.
After this game, Oregon State sorta just reached flow state. They were 6-5. The rest of the season, they won all the games they were expected to win and lost all the games they were expected to lose. But if they lost this game, that would've lit a fire under them. They'd be below .500 with something to prove. They played Santa Clara twice the rest of the year. Had they won those, Santa Clara maybe snuck in as an 11 seed. But we wouldn't have had that instant classic between Kentucky and Santa Clara. Maybe Kentucky rolls through their first round game, and keeps that going into their game against Iowa State and wins that. Who knows how far they go?

But just looking at how Texas Tech won this game, imagine how far they could've gone in the tournament if they had JT Toppin. Such a talented team, and I really do think they would've beaten Alabama despite the fact that they lost by 30 without him. Of course this had a major effect on college basketball history! If Cal Poly won this game, they would've had the momentum of a big close win going into UCLA, who they of course would've beaten, sending them into a spiral of not winning a game ever again, meaning we would've had a different 7 seed, who would've beaten UConn, meaning Braylon Mullins' legendary shot wouldn't have happened and then Duke would've played Illinois, probably beaten them, which would've set up for Duke and Michigan to play the greatest college basketball game in CBB history.
