After 2 long weeks, Alexander Ovechkin finally scored goal 900. It wasn’t the sexiest goal, but they don’t ask how you get them, they ask how many and nobody can stake a claim to more NHL goals than the Great 8 himself. That historic moment alone gives this game a massive boost in the rating, especially since we got to see Binnington try to pocket it for himself, only to get caught by an official. Very funny. We even got a fight between Schenn and Duhaine, which Schenn won in dominant fashion. Thank goodness this game had those memorable moments as this game was completely one sided and slow most of the way. That Schenn fight was the most dominant the Blues looked all night as the Capitals poured it on. Binnington was ironically very charitable tonight before getting replaced by Hofer who was also in a giving mood while being worse at stopping shots. On the plus side, Logan Thompson showed why he deserves to get called up to the Olympics for Canada. He will get called up… right?
