“For the first time in Dan Vladar’s career, he has beaten the Toronto Maple Leafs. Incredibly poor timing for the Leafs to appear in a Prime Monday Night Hockey Game. All the Leafs hype feels so hollow when you remember their vibes are in the 67th circle of hell. Unfortunately, the Leafs add to their misery by losing to Philadelphia in a shootout. This game was back-and-forth, but the backs and forth lasted nearly entire periods. The 1st period was mostly Philly’s while the 2nd was mostly Toronto’s. Then the 3rd was mostly quiet. Luckily, the overtime and shootout surprisingly made up for a regulation that was kind of lacklustre. At least when it comes to aesthetics alone. Vladar was wonderful, but Stolarz wasn’t much worse, not his fault he didn’t get as many shots to deal with. Dvorak continues to impress me and Cates had a wonderful game. Nylander was ran ragged by Bérubé and still nearly ended this game in both the 3rd period, overtime and the shootout. The Leafs continue to fall.”
