I'm convinced that this game took several months off my lifespan. It felt like I was watching playoff baseball. Baseball Savant had the Cubs at a 95% win rate at one point and I was ready to shut it all off and throw on a movie. "This simply isn't a playoff team," I said. Ha! Against any level of logic, I decided to keep it open so I could bite my nails to the stubs for the next 2.5 hours.
Kinda weird how seemingly everyone on the Mets had their own little moment of magic that helped us get here except for Soto, but sometimes baseball is really weird like that. Who knew that Alvy would be the key to it all? The Mets haven't won a game when behind by five this year and the Cubs haven't lost a game after being five ahead this year. Good night for records to be broken!
I hated this game but I loved this game but I hated this game but I loved this game. What a blast. I feel alive.
