Finland completed the comeback and relegated Switzerland’s play to just a valiant effort. This was a masterclass in defensive hockey from the Switzerland mens national team. Leonardo Genoni was elite, but every Swiss skater played their role especially JJ Moser who NEEDS more Norris talks in the NHL. When Riat and Niederreiter scored back-to-back goals in the 1st, I thought the Fins would tie it up. As the game went on and Switzerland kept stifling the Finnish, the more the possibility of the upset came up in my mind. Sebastian Aho gave Finland life with a laser to cut the lead in half and Arturi Lekhonen tipped a shot from Miro Heiskanen past Genoni for the tie in the last minutes. Lekhonen awoken his clutch gene from 2021 and 2022 speed away for the winner in overtime. Even without Barkov, the Finnish are still dangerous. Miro Heiskanen is still my guy and he was fantastic tonight, I thought he was Finland’s best player on the ice. Both a stable presence and a spark on offense.
