We got some old school baseball in this matchup. Specifically, small ball baby! Tigers needed Skubal to give a signature start to maintain their hold on the division lead and Skubal gave them exactly that… for 5 innings. The Guardians pulled out the classic ‘death by 1000 paper cuts’ strategy as they scored 3 runs without a ball leaving the infield. Although it also included a scary injury with Fry so that was a bit of a Debby downer. Thankfully, he seems okay and although the Tigers never got close to taking the lead back, this felt like a playoff game.
