“A bummer to finish the group stage for my nation, but it fortunately doesn’t matter too much as Canada still qualifies for the knockouts for the first time ever while showing plenty of resilience throughout the group stage. The game started out slow. Switzerland and Canada knew the stakes and understandably took things slow; trying to dissect the opposing defence. It had mixed results and led to a mostly uneventful first half. The most notable part was Breel Embolo being an absolute pain to deal with. His combination of size and skill was overwhelming our backline. Crépeau’s huge save was the only reason Canada wasn’t losing. Still, anyone’s game after the first half That thought quickly disappeared when the Swiss scored seconds into the 2nd half to take the lead. That goal clearly demoralized Canada because the Swiss scored shortly after it. Canada fought valiantly in the last 25 minutes and Promise David had a beautiful goal, but we just barely couldn’t tie it. No shame in that loss”
