“Alright Penn State, you just suffered a shocking loss to fall to 3-2, now it's time to get back on track, get your first conference win, and get back in the playoff picture. Northwestern had other plans. Penn State controlled the first half aside from one Northwestern drive, except for the fact that after scoring late in the half to take a 14-10 lead, they let Northwestern drive down the field and score a field goal. And then in the 4th quarter, Northwestern showed up and got a touchdown with just shy of 5 minutes left, and held on for the win. Penn State was in full shock. 0-3 in the Big Ten. And after years of expectations, losses to powerhouses like Ohio State, and the inability to finally break through, the Penn State athletic department had seen enough. James Franklin-fired.”
