“Really close game through 6 innings, but the Guardians lit the fuse in the 7th, then blew this game up in the 8th and the Yankees never recorded. The most notable part of this game is obvious: the Guardians broke Cam Schlittler. They became the first team this season to put up more than 3 earned runs in a single game. That breakthrough helped the Guardians overcome Paul Goldschmidt’s Aaron Judge impression. Ironically, it wasn’t their pitching that won the day. When Goldschmidt wasn’t crushing the ball and driving runs, Yankees bats were grinding out at-bats and raising Cantillo’s pitch count, that’s why he was out of the game quickly. Fortunately for Cleveland, they have an elite bullpen that could shut down an offense. Then Cleveland’s chances were compounded by the bats; they were fantastic. Cleveland’s greatest player Jose Ramirez showed his typical brilliance alongside Bazzana’s clutch hits with runners in scoring position and Manzardo deserves some love for his home run. ”
