Disaster successfully avoided. This rating took some time because I was running around and celebrating. I don’t want to take anything away from Czechia. They played team Canada very tough. They did a fantastic job completely sealing off the neutral zone and blitzing our D-men when they have the puck. Canada was on their heels more often than in their previous 3 games combined. Were the refs bad? Sure. That wasn’t why we fell. We fell because we couldn’t take over as much as we should. Dostal was brilliant, for a guy who had a lot of question marks before and during the tournament, he reminded everyone who he is. Pastrnak was also brilliant, finally had that dominant superstar game people were waiting for. McDavid was still incredible. Even when Czechia was triple teaming him like this is basketball, he still excelled. Celebrini continues to prove the ‘inexperience’ drawback is a load of crap when you’re as good as he is. Nick Suzuki redeems himself and Mitch Marner comes up huge in OT.
